🔵 For businesses that want more customers from AI search
LLM Citation Strategy Template (Copy and Fill In)
A ready-to-use template for planning how your brand gets cited by AI assistants. Copy the sections into a document and fill them in with your team.
⚫ Millions ask AI daily ➜ 🔵 AI recommends YOU ➜ ⚫ Prospects visit your site ➜ 🔵 Convert to customers
This template turns an LLM citation strategy into a one-page working document. Copy each section into your own file, replace the examples in brackets with your details, and review it every month. It works for a small business or a marketing team, and takes about two hours to complete the first time.
Section 1: Brand Fact Sheet
The facts every page and profile should repeat exactly.
- Brand name (exact spelling): [Example: “Northwind Solar”]
- One-line description: [Installs home solar panels and batteries in Bristol and Bath]
- Markets and languages: [UK, English]
- Main products or services: [Panels, batteries, EV chargers]
- Price range (if public): [From £X]
- Website and main profiles: [URLs]
Section 2: Goal for This Quarter
Write one sentence. Example: “Be mentioned in AI answers to questions about home battery storage in the Bristol area, and make sure assistants describe our services correctly.”
Section 3: Priority Prompts
List 10 to 20 prompts. For each one, fill in:
- Prompt text: [“Is a home battery worth it in the UK?”]
- Buying stage: [problem / solution / comparison / brand]
- Business value: [high / medium / low]
- Currently mentioned? [yes / no, which assistants]
- Who is cited instead: [competitor names, sites]
Section 4: Source Map
For your top prompts, list the sources assistants currently use and where you stand.
- Your own pages that should answer it: [URL or “missing”]
- Third-party sites that appear: [review site, trade body, newspaper]
- Your presence on those sites: [listed / not listed / outdated]
Section 5: Action Plan
Turn gaps into tasks. Keep each task concrete.
- Create: [New guide: “Home battery costs in Bristol, explained”]
- Improve: [Add pricing examples and author to existing FAQ page]
- Fix: [Update old address on two directories]
- Earn: [Offer local paper a comment on new energy grants]
- Technical: [Check robots.txt allows AI search crawlers; add Organization schema]
Section 6: Owners and Deadlines
Give each task one owner and a target week. Example: “Guide on battery costs: Priya, week 4”. A task without an owner usually does not happen.
Section 7: Monthly Review
Once a month, answer these questions in the document:
- Which priority prompts now mention us? Which still do not?
- Are brand facts in AI answers correct?
- Which new sources started appearing?
- What will we change next month?
Keep old reviews in the document so you can see trends over time.
Tips for Using the Template
- Keep it short. If the document grows past two pages, it stops being used.
- Share it with everyone who edits your website or public profiles.
- Start with fewer prompts and add more once the review routine works.
- Record what you changed each month, so you can connect actions to results later.
Section 8: Rules We Follow
- We only publish facts we can support.
- We do not buy reviews, links or forum posts.
- We do not promise anyone guaranteed AI placement.
