How to Get Your Service Details Cited Correctly by ChatGPT
For service businesses, being mentioned is not enough. ChatGPT should also get your prices, areas, process and availability right. Here is how to make those details clear.

The short answer
ChatGPT cites service details correctly when they are stated plainly, in text, on a page dedicated to that service, and match what other sources say. Give each service its own page with price ranges, service area, process, timing and requirements, written in short factual sentences. Keep directories and profiles in sync so there is one consistent version of the truth.
Why service details often go wrong
Service businesses tend to describe their work in general terms: “We offer tailored solutions for every budget.” When ChatGPT is asked “how much does a garden designer charge in Bristol” or “does [company] cover weekend call-outs”, it has nothing concrete to use. It may guess, quote an old directory, or pick a competitor whose page is more specific.
The details that matter most
- Price. A starting price, typical range or what the price depends on.
- Service area. Cities, postcodes or regions you cover, and where you don’t go.
- Process. What happens from first contact to completion.
- Timing. Typical lead time and duration.
- Requirements. What the customer needs to provide or prepare.
- Credentials. Licences, insurance or memberships you actually hold.
A service page template
- Opening answer: “We install heat pumps for homes in Leuven and the surrounding area. Most installations cost between €X and €Y and take two to three days.”
- What’s included: a short bullet list.
- Pricing: what drives the price up or down, with examples.
- Areas covered: list the towns by name.
- How it works: numbered steps.
- FAQ: five to eight questions in the customer’s words.
- Last updated: a visible date.
Replace the placeholder figures with your real ones. If you truly can’t publish prices, explain the factors and give a typical example project.
Write FAQs the way customers ask
Customers don’t ask “What is your service delivery methodology?”. They ask “Can you come on a Saturday?”, “Do I need to be home?” and “Is there a call-out fee?”. Collect real questions from emails and phone calls. Answer each in one or two sentences, then add detail. Mark them up with FAQ structured data if your site supports it; see FAQ schema for voice and AI.
Keep every source in sync
Your Google Business Profile services list, booking platforms, directory profiles and social pages should match the service page. When you change a price or add a new area, update them all on the same day. Mismatches are a common reason for wrong answers.
Show availability honestly
If you are fully booked for six weeks, say so on the page. Customers who ask an assistant “who can fit a new boiler this week?” are better served by a clear answer, and you avoid frustrated leads. Update availability notes regularly, or remove them if you can’t keep them current. Outdated availability is worse than none.
Check how ChatGPT describes you
Ask direct questions such as “How much does [your company] charge for [service]?” and “Does [your company] work in [town]?”. If the answer is wrong, find the source it may be using. Check old pages, directories and press articles, and correct them. Our guide to correcting wrong AI information explains the process.
