Generative AI search optimization at page level means making each page easy for AI systems to understand, extract from and cite. In practice: answer the main question early, use descriptive headings, state facts precisely, name things clearly, put data in tables, add structured data, and make sure AI crawlers can access the page.

1. Answer First

Open with two or three sentences that directly answer the page’s main question. Generative tools often look for a passage that resolves the query. If your answer is buried after four paragraphs of introduction, a competitor’s clearer page may be used instead.

Weak: “In today’s fast-moving world, many homeowners wonder about solar…”

Strong: “A typical 4 kW home solar system in southern France needs roughly 20 square metres of south-facing roof. Here is how to check whether yours fits.”

2. Write Headings That Make Sense Alone

AI tools often work with sections rather than whole pages. A heading like “Overview” means nothing out of context; “How long does solar panel installation take?” does. Each section should stand on its own if quoted.

3. Be Precise With Facts

  • Use exact figures with units, dates and conditions.
  • Say who something applies to and where.
  • Avoid vague claims like “industry-leading” with no evidence.
  • Date the page and update it when facts change.

4. Name Entities Clearly

Use full names for your company, products, people and places at least once, then keep them consistent. “Our tool” is less useful to a machine than “Keboost’s prompt tracker”. Link to your about page and author pages so the relationships are clear. Our guide to entity SEO for AI goes deeper.

5. Use Lists and Tables for Structured Information

Steps belong in numbered lists, options in bullet lists, and comparisons in HTML tables. Tables of prices, specifications or opening hours are far easier to extract than the same information spread through paragraphs or locked in an image.

6. Add Structured Data

Schema markup describes what is on the page in a standard format. Common types include Organization, LocalBusiness, Product, FAQPage, HowTo and Article. It does not guarantee anything, but it removes ambiguity. See structured data for AI search.

7. Check Technical Access

  • Review robots.txt for rules that block AI-related crawlers you want to allow.
  • Make sure important text is in the HTML, not loaded only by scripts after the page opens.
  • Keep pages fast and free of intrusive pop-ups that hide content.
  • Use clean, stable URLs and avoid moving pages without redirects.

Our AI crawler user-agent list helps with the robots.txt review.

8. Add Something Original

Technique only gets a page considered. What makes it worth citing is information others do not have: your own data, real examples, expert judgement. A perfectly formatted page that repeats common advice has little reason to be chosen over the dozens like it.

A Quick Page Review

Take one important page and ask: Is the answer in the first paragraph? Do headings work alone? Are facts precise and dated? Are lists and tables used where they fit? Is schema present? Can crawlers read it? Is there at least one original insight? Fix what is missing, then move to the next page.
