Why AI Assistants Ignore Some Businesses: 7 Common Causes

Cause 1: your pages describe you, not the customer’s problem

Test: read your homepage. Does it say “innovative solutions for modern needs” or “we repair iPhone screens in Bristol, usually same day”?

Test: compare your address, phone, prices and business name across your site and three listings.

Fix: put key information in real text, and allow crawlers you want to reach your site.

Cause 6: a stronger competitor owns the topic

Test: see who does appear. What do they have that you do not, such as a guide, a comparison or press coverage?

Test: are you checking “best [category]” only? Buyers often ask longer, specific questions.

Fix: build a list of 15 to 30 real questions from your sales and support conversations and test those.

What will not fix it

• Paying someone who claims to “submit” you to ChatGPT.
• Mass-producing near-identical pages for every keyword.
• Forum spam under fake accounts.
