Can Your Website Get Into LLM Training Data? What Really Matters
No one can submit a website into AI training data. Here is how training data is gathered, what your crawler settings change, and what actually helps.

You cannot submit or pay to put your website into an AI model’s training data. AI developers collect large amounts of public web text on their own terms, and each model’s knowledge is fixed when it is trained. What you can do is decide whether their crawlers may access your site, and make sure the public web describes your business clearly and consistently so any future collection picks up accurate information.
How Training Data Is Gathered
Developers build training sets from sources such as public web pages, licensed content and other datasets. They decide what to collect, how to filter it and when to stop. Then the model is trained, and its built-in knowledge reflects that snapshot. Website owners have no submission form, and no agency can buy a place in the data on your behalf. Treat any offer to “get you into ChatGPT’s training data” as a red flag.
Training Data vs Live Answers
It helps to separate two things. Training data shapes what a model “knows” without searching. Live retrieval happens when an assistant searches the web while answering, as ChatGPT search, Perplexity, Copilot and Google’s AI Overviews can do. For most businesses, live retrieval is where changes show up sooner, because updated pages can be fetched once they are re-crawled. Training data changes only when a new model version is released.
Your Crawler Choices
Several AI companies publish crawler names and respect robots.txt rules. Examples include OpenAI’s GPTBot, Google-Extended (a control token for some Google AI uses) and Common Crawl’s CCBot. You can allow or block them. Our AI crawler user-agent list has more detail.
- Allowing training crawlers makes it possible for your public pages to be included in future collections. It does not guarantee inclusion.
- Blocking them can protect premium or sensitive content, but your public information may then rely on what others write about you.
- Search crawlers such as Googlebot and Bingbot are separate. Blocking them affects search and AI answers built on search, so most businesses keep them allowed.
Many businesses allow crawlers on marketing pages and block them on members-only areas. Decide based on your content and your business model.
What Helps Your Business Be Described Accurately
- Publish clear public facts: who you are, what you offer, where you operate, since when.
- Keep facts identical across the web: directories, social profiles, marketplaces, partner sites.
- Earn independent coverage: trade press, local news, reviews and industry lists that describe you in their own words.
- Keep old pages accurate: outdated pages can still be collected. Update or redirect them.
- Write evergreen explanations of your field. Helpful, well-linked explanations are more likely to be widely referenced.
Example: A Family Winery
A small winery notices that an assistant describes it as producing only red wine, which was true years ago. It updates its website, corrects its listings on wine and tourism sites, and asks a regional food magazine to cover its new white wines. Assistants that search the web live can reflect the change once those pages are crawled. Built-in model knowledge may catch up in later versions.

How Keboost Helps
Keboost does not sell access to training data, because no one can. It tracks the questions your customers ask across major AI assistants, shows what those assistants say about you and your competitors, and creates focused content that crawlers and AI tools can find and cite. Run a free AI visibility check to see what AI currently says about your business.
