How to Verify Your Brand Data Before AI Repeats It
AI repeats whatever facts it finds most often. This checklist helps you confirm your brand data is correct and consistent everywhere.

Verifying brand data for AI means checking that the basic facts about your business are correct and identical everywhere AI might read them. Build one master fact sheet, compare every public source against it and fix the conflicts. There is no official AI verification badge to buy; consistency is what earns trust.
Step 1: Build a Master Fact Sheet
Create one internal document that is the single source of truth. Include:
- Legal name and the trading name you use publicly.
- One-sentence description and main category.
- Founding year, headquarters city and countries served.
- Address, phone and opening hours for each location.
- Main products or services and current starting prices.
- Names and titles of founders or leaders you want associated with the brand.
- Official website, social profiles and support email.
Get one person to own this sheet and update it whenever something changes.
Step 2: Check Your Own Website
Your site is the source you control fully, so it must be perfect. Look for:
- Old prices in blog posts or landing pages from past campaigns.
- Different company descriptions on the homepage, About page and footer.
- Addresses or phone numbers that differ between the contact page and the footer.
- Structured data (for example Organization or LocalBusiness) that does not match the visible text.
Step 3: Check Profiles and Directories
List every place your brand has a profile. Typical examples: Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Apple Maps, LinkedIn, Facebook, industry directories, marketplaces, review sites and chamber of commerce listings. For each, mark whether name, description, address, phone, website and category match the fact sheet. A simple spreadsheet with a green, amber or red column works well.
Step 4: Check What AI Says
Now compare AI answers with the fact sheet. Ask several assistants direct questions:
- “What does [brand] do?”
- “Where is [brand] based and when was it founded?”
- “How much does [brand] cost?”
- “Who runs [brand]?”
Where an assistant shows sources, as Perplexity does, note which page each fact came from. A wrong fact with a source link tells you exactly what to fix.
Step 5: Fix Conflicts in Priority Order
Not every error matters equally. Fix in this order:
- Errors that cost sales: wrong prices, wrong address, “closed” when you are open.
- Errors in your category or description that make AI recommend you for the wrong need.
- Errors on high-traffic profiles and sources that AI cites.
- Small inconsistencies on minor listings.
Step 6: Repeat on a Schedule
Verification is not a one-time job. Recheck after any change to prices, locations or products, and run a full review every quarter. Directories sometimes overwrite data from other sources, so errors can return. For help with the correction side, see updating brand info in AI tools. Watch Out for “Verification” Offers
Some sellers offer to make your brand “verified” in ChatGPT or Gemini. Public assistants do not offer paid verification of brand data. What you can do is be consistent, be easy to crawl and be mentioned by trusted sources.
