How AI Training Works and Why No One Can Submit Your Data
AI models are trained on large sets of public text chosen by the AI companies. There is no public form to submit your business data, but you can still shape what models learn.

AI models are trained by the companies that build them, using large collections of public web pages, licensed content and other data they select. There is no public submission process, and no outside service can put your business data into a model’s training set. What you can do is make accurate information about your business widely and clearly available on the open web.
How training data is gathered
AI companies collect text at large scale. A big share comes from crawling the public web, often through their own crawlers or large public web archives. Some content is licensed directly from publishers. The data is filtered for quality, duplicates and harmful material before training starts.
Three practical points follow from this:
- It is selective. Low-quality, thin or duplicated pages are likely to be filtered out.
- It has a cutoff. Each model learns from data up to a certain date. New facts after that date are not in its memory.
- It is controlled by the AI company. No agency, tool or partner can add your pages on request.
What happens during training
During training, the model reads billions of sentences and adjusts itself to predict text well. It does not keep a copy of your website. Instead, it absorbs patterns: that a certain brand is linked to a certain product type, city or reputation. The more often and consistently a fact appears in good sources, the more likely the model is to reflect it.
Why “data submission” offers are a red flag
If a provider says it can submit your data to AI training, ask exactly where it goes. Usually the honest answer is that it publishes content on websites and hopes crawlers pick it up. That can be useful, but it is publishing, not submission. Claims of direct access, special pipelines or guaranteed inclusion are not credible. What you control: crawler access
You can decide whether some AI crawlers may read your site. Several AI companies publish the names of their crawlers and respect rules in your robots.txt file. Blocking them may keep your content out of future training or live answers, depending on the crawler. Allowing them keeps the door open. Check your settings before assuming you are visible. What actually shapes what models learn about you
- Clear facts on your own site. An about page, service pages and a pricing or FAQ page that state the basics in plain text.
- Consistent details elsewhere. Company registries, business directories, review platforms and social profiles that match your site.
- Independent mentions. Articles, interviews, industry lists and partner pages that describe what you do.
- Time. Content published today may only reach a model’s memory with a later training run.
Do not forget live search
Training is only half the story. Many assistants also search the web while answering. Good content can be found that way much sooner than the next model release. That is why working on clear, crawlable pages pays off twice.
A short example
A small bakery supplier in Lille launches a gluten-free flour line. It cannot add this to any model. It can update its product page, publish a short guide on baking with the flour, get listed in a specialist food trade directory, and keep product details identical across its online shop and retailer pages. Live search can pick those up quickly, and future models may learn from them later.
How Keboost helps
Keboost does not submit data to AI companies and does not claim any special access. It tracks what assistants currently say about your brand and your competitors, then helps you create and distribute focused content on the open web, where crawlers and search tools can find it. Run a free AI visibility check to see what AI assistants know about you now.
