Can You Get Your Content Into LLM Training Data?
No one can sell you a place in an AI model’s training data. Here is how training data is actually gathered and what you can honestly do to be represented well.

You cannot pay to put your content into an AI model’s training data, and anyone selling that is overpromising. AI companies decide what they collect, mostly from the public web and licensed sources. What you can do is publish accurate, accessible content and earn mentions on trusted sites, which raises the chance that future models learn correct facts about your brand.
How training data is gathered
Large language models learn from very large collections of text. AI companies build these collections themselves. Common sources include publicly available web pages, licensed datasets and other material the company chooses. The company filters this data, removes duplicates and low-quality pages, and decides what to keep. Individual businesses have no button to submit content, and there is no public marketplace for training slots.
Training also happens on a schedule set by each company. Content you publish today will only affect a model trained after it was collected, and you will not be told whether it was included.
Why “training data placement” offers are a red flag
Some providers advertise packages to “inject your brand into ChatGPT’s training data”. Be careful. They usually mean one of three things:
- Publishing articles on many sites. This can be legitimate if the sites are real and the content is useful, but no one can promise it will be used for training.
- Mass posting on forums and Q&A sites. This is spam. Platforms remove it, and it can damage your reputation. Read how to build real authority on Q&A sites instead.
- Nothing specific at all. A vague promise with a high price.
Training data is only half the picture
Many AI assistants can also search the web while answering. ChatGPT can browse, Perplexity shows its sources, Copilot uses Bing and Google’s AI Overviews appear in Google Search. For these, what matters is what is on the web now, not what was in a past training run. That is good news: you can influence live answers much faster by improving your pages and your presence on trusted sites.
What you can honestly do
Make your public facts clear and consistent
Write a clear “about” page, a pricing page and product or service pages that state facts plainly. Make sure your name, address, services and prices match on your website, Google Business Profile, directories and social profiles.
Do not block the crawlers you want
If you want AI companies to be able to use your public pages, check that robots.txt does not block their crawlers. If you prefer to opt out of training, you can block training crawlers while still allowing search crawlers, where companies separate them.
Earn mentions on sites that are widely read
Trade publications, industry associations, respected directories and news coverage are the kinds of sources that are often collected and trusted. Getting there takes real work: useful expert comments, original data or genuine news.
Publish content that stays useful
Guides that remain accurate for years are more likely to be collected in future training runs than short-lived posts. See evergreen content for LLMs for ideas.
A realistic example
A small software company notices that an AI assistant describes its product with features it dropped two years ago. It cannot edit the model. Instead, it updates its feature page, publishes a dated changelog, corrects its listings on review sites and pitches a short update to a trade blog. Assistants that search the web may start showing the corrected facts sooner; future model versions may pick them up later.
