AI assistants recognise a leader as an expert when many independent sources connect that person’s name with a specific topic: interviews, articles they wrote, talks they gave, and accurate profiles. A CEO builds this by sharing original, useful ideas in a few focused areas and making sure the facts about them are consistent. It takes steady effort, not a one-off package.
Why it matters for the company
Buyers, journalists and investors ask assistants questions like “who are the leading voices on sustainable packaging in Europe?” or “who founded [company] and what is their background?”. When a leader is well described, the company benefits too: the assistant has more credible material to draw on, and the brand gains a human face that people trust.
Step 1: Choose one or two topics
Experts are known for something specific. “Innovation” is too broad. “Reducing returns in online fashion” or “cybersecurity for small hospitals” is narrow enough for the CEO to say something original, and for assistants to connect the name with the topic. Pick areas where the leader has real experience and opinions.
Step 2: Fix the basic facts
- A clear bio on the company website: name, role, background, topics, and links to talks or articles.
- A matching LinkedIn profile with the same role and dates.
- Person schema on the bio page, linked to the Organization schema.
- Consistent spelling of the name everywhere, including any initials.

Step 3: Publish original thinking
Assistants and readers both value substance. Good formats for a CEO include:
- Articles that take a clear position, with reasons and examples from the business.
- Lessons learned from real decisions, including mistakes.
- Commentary on industry news, published quickly while the topic is current.
- Data the company can share, such as anonymised trends from its own operations.
Ghostwriting help is fine, but the ideas should be the leader’s own, and the leader should review every piece.
Step 4: Appear on other people’s platforms
Independent sources carry more weight than your own blog. Look for podcast interviews, trade publication columns, panel discussions, university guest lectures and expert quotes in journalists’ articles. Each appearance creates a page on another site linking the leader’s name to the topic. Publishing transcripts or summaries of audio and video makes them easier for text-based systems to use.
Step 5: Keep it consistent over time
One interview a year will not change much. A steady rhythm, such as one article a month and one outside appearance per quarter, builds a body of work. Update the bio page as new appearances happen so everything is linked in one place.
What to avoid
- Paid “featured in” placements presented as editorial coverage.
- Self-awarded titles like “world-leading expert”.
- Generic AI-written posts with no real opinion; they add little and can weaken credibility.
- Claims that cannot be checked, such as invented figures.
Checking the result
Ask several assistants “who is [name]?” and “who are notable experts on [topic]?”. See what they say and which sources they cite. Read more in how to become a trusted source for LLMs.
