How to Make Your Pricing Clear to AI Assistants

Buyers often ask AI assistants what something costs. If your pricing is vague or hidden, assistants guess or skip you. Here is how to present prices clearly.

When buyers are close to a purchase, they often ask AI assistants about cost: “how much does a logo design cost?” or “is [brand] cheaper than [competitor]?”. If your prices are hidden, vague or out of date, assistants either skip you or repeat old figures. Publishing clear prices or honest price ranges, in plain text, gives assistants something accurate to work with.

Why pricing questions matter

Pricing questions come from people who are ready to decide. They compare options and want a number to plan with. An assistant that can say “Studio X charges from €450 for a logo package including three concepts” gives that buyer a reason to contact Studio X. An assistant that has no figure may simply recommend another studio that does publish one.

Step 1: Publish a real pricing page

Even if every project is custom, you can usually share something:

  • Fixed prices for standard products or plans.
  • “From” prices for entry-level options.
  • Typical ranges for custom work, with what affects the price.
  • A worked example: “A three-bedroom house repaint in Aix usually costs €4,000 to €6,500.”

Write prices as text, not inside images, and include the currency and whether tax is included.

Step 2: Explain what is included

A price without context is easy to misread. List what each plan or package includes and excludes. For software, name the limits (users, projects, storage). For services, describe the deliverables and timeline. This helps assistants answer follow-up questions like “does that include installation?”

Step 3: Keep one version of the truth

Old prices on blog posts, partner sites, marketplace listings or cached comparison articles cause conflicting answers. When you change prices:

  1. Update your pricing page first and show the update date.
  2. Search your own site for old figures and update them.
  3. Update profiles on comparison sites, marketplaces and directories you control.
  4. Ask partners or reviewers with outdated figures to correct them, politely and with a link to your pricing page.

If an assistant is already repeating a wrong price, see how to correct wrong pricing in AI answers.

Step 4: Answer cost questions directly

Add a short FAQ under your pricing: “Is there a free trial?”, “Can I cancel anytime?”, “Are there setup fees?”. These match how people phrase follow-up questions to assistants. Mark them up with FAQ schema if they are visible on the page.

Step 5: Be honest in comparisons

If you publish a comparison with competitors’ prices, keep it accurate and dated, and link to their pricing pages. Misleading comparisons can damage trust and may be corrected by other sources anyway. Our article on product comparisons for AI answers shows how to write fair ones.

What if you cannot publish prices?

Some businesses, such as B2B suppliers with negotiated contracts, cannot show exact prices. You can still explain your pricing model (“priced per user per month”, “quoted per project after a free survey”), the factors that change the cost, and the typical size of customer you serve. That is far more helpful than “contact us for pricing”.
