How to Build an AI Search Content Strategy in 90 Days
A practical 90-day plan for deciding what content to create so AI assistants understand your business and have good reasons to mention it.
⚫ Millions ask AI daily ➜ 🔵 AI recommends YOU ➜ ⚫ Prospects visit your site ➜ 🔵 Convert to customers
An AI search content strategy is a plan for which questions your business should answer, where those answers should live, and how you check whether AI assistants pick them up. The goal is simple: when a buyer asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity about your category, the assistant should find clear, consistent information about you. A 90-day cycle is long enough to publish and short enough to adjust.
Days 1–15: Map the Prompts That Matter
Start with the buyer, not with keywords. Write down 30 to 50 questions your customers would type into an AI assistant. Group them by stage:
- Discovery: “What is the best way to manage invoices for a small agency?”
- Shortlist: “Which invoicing tools work well for freelancers in France?”
- Decision: “Is Tool A or Tool B cheaper for a team of five?”
Ask a few of these in several assistants and note who gets named, which sources are cited and what facts are wrong. This becomes your baseline. Our guide on measuring AI visibility and brand mentions explains how to record it in a repeatable way.
Days 16–30: Choose Priority Topics
You cannot cover everything at once. Score each prompt group on three questions:
- Does it lead to revenue if we are mentioned?
- Do we have real expertise or data to say something useful?
- Is the current AI answer weak, outdated or missing us?
Pick five to eight topics that score well on all three. For each, decide on one main page on your site and two or three supporting places outside it, such as a directory profile, a guest article or a partner page.
Days 31–60: Publish Answer-First Content
AI assistants pull short, clear statements from pages. Write each main page so the first paragraph answers the question directly. Then add the detail a careful buyer wants: prices or price ranges, who the offer suits, who it does not suit, and concrete steps. Keep facts identical everywhere: same company name, same prices, same service area.
Useful formats for this phase include:
- Plain explainers for discovery questions
- Comparison pages for shortlist questions
- Pricing and FAQ pages for decision questions

Days 61–75: Spread the Same Facts Beyond Your Site
AI answers often lean on sources other than your own website. Update your profiles on review platforms and industry directories, make sure your “About” facts match, and pitch one or two useful articles to publications your buyers read. One accurate mention in a trusted place can matter more than three extra blog posts on your own domain.
Days 76–90: Review and Reset
Re-run the same prompts from day one. Look for changes in three areas: whether you are mentioned, whether the facts are right, and which sources are cited. Some changes appear quickly in assistants that browse the web live. Changes in a model’s built-in knowledge take longer, because they depend on future training updates. Use what you learn to choose the next 90-day set of topics.
Signs your strategy is working
- Assistants describe your business correctly, even if they do not yet recommend it
- Your pages or profiles start appearing as cited sources in Perplexity or Copilot
- Fewer outdated facts show up in answers
No one can guarantee a mention, but a steady plan improves the chances that your business is found, understood and trusted.
