🔵 For businesses that want more customers from AI search
How Different AI Tools Find Brands: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and More
Each AI assistant gathers information a little differently. This guide explains the main differences and what they mean for getting your brand into more of them.
⚫ Millions ask AI daily ➜ 🔵 AI recommends YOU ➜ ⚫ Prospects visit your site ➜ 🔵 Convert to customers
No single action puts a brand into every AI tool, because each assistant gathers information in its own way. They all combine what the model learned in training with, in many cases, live web results, but they use different search sources and features. Appearing across more tools comes from strong fundamentals, such as consistent facts, useful content and independent mentions, plus a few platform-specific checks.
What All Assistants Have in Common
Large language models learn from large collections of text. When they can browse or search, they also read current pages. Brands that are widely and consistently described on credible sites tend to appear more often in both cases. That shared base is why fundamentals matter more than tricks.
Platform by Platform
ChatGPT
ChatGPT can answer from its training and, when search is used, from live web pages, often showing links. Clear pages that answer specific questions and are easy to crawl help here. More detail: getting a brand recommended by ChatGPT.
Google Gemini and AI Overviews
Gemini is closely connected to Google’s ecosystem, and AI Overviews appear directly in Google Search. Good standing in Google Search, a complete Google Business Profile for local businesses and helpful content all matter.
Claude
Claude answers from its training and can use web search when that feature is available. Clear, factual and well-structured content on reputable sites is a good fit.
Perplexity
Perplexity is built around searching the web and shows source links for its answers. Pages that state facts plainly and are up to date have a good chance of being used as sources.
Microsoft Copilot
Copilot uses Bing for web results. Make sure your site is indexed in Bing (Bing Webmaster Tools helps) and that your Bing Places listing is accurate if you are a local business.
A Cross-Platform Checklist
- Site verified in both Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
- Robots.txt reviewed so the crawlers of tools you care about are not blocked by accident.
- Consistent business facts on Google, Bing, Apple Maps and key directories.
- Pages answering your top customer questions in plain language.
- Reviews on platforms your buyers use.
- Mentions in trade or local publications.

Expect Differences, and Track Them
It is normal to appear in Perplexity but not Claude, or in Gemini but not Copilot. Each tool uses different sources and updates at different times. Test the same prompts in each, note the gaps and look at which sources the stronger answers use. That tells you where to focus. Being “in all major AI tools” is a direction to work towards, not something anyone can promise.
Common Misunderstandings
- There is no submission form to add your brand to AI tools.
- No one can pay to be placed in answers or added to training data.
- Being in one tool does not automatically mean being in all of them.

Where to Start if Time Is Short
If you can only do one thing this month, make sure your site is indexed in both Google and Bing and that your main business listings match. That supports several assistants at once.
